The thermostat is a key element of the heating and cooling system. Modern thermostats are programmable, and some even allow you to program them from a smartphone. Many allow you to control most of the house from one location. Thermostat upgrades are one of the three top products you need to sell. Here are four tips for convincing your customers to upgrade:
Some people are still using analog thermostats that are functional, but do not allow the user to set a specific temperature. As thermostats get older, they tend to “drift” from the set temperature, which may result in a room that is too hot or too cold.
If your customer is not yet using a programmable thermostat, then you need to make sure they know about the advantages. A programmable thermostat can be set to adjust the temperature at night, or during the day when everyone is at work or school, saving significant amounts of energy and also time – the customer does not need to change the temperature when they get in.
Does your customer like to use their smartphone? If so, you can talk to them about thermostats that have associated apps, letting you control your system from anywhere in the room – or even from work. Maybe they are coming home early and want to turn up the heat before they arrive. Thermostats with remote access save the customer a lot of time, more than they realize, as it tends to be in dribs and drabs.
Be careful to explain the pros and cons of thermostat technology carefully. Your customer could easily be intimidated and worry about their new thermostat being excessively complicated.
It is your job to sell your customer the right system, and one that will save them money and hassle in the long term. For more information on new thermostats, contact McCall’s Supply, Inc. today!
